For years, I’ve dreamed of competing in forms. Truthfully, though, it’s been one of those “someday” dreams — you know, the ones that begin “Someday, I’m going to …”
Until now. I’ve signed up to compete in poomse at the North Carolina State Games in two weeks and I’m really nervous about it. So far, I’ve only competed in our school’s in-house tournaments. I did pretty well there — two second place wins and one first place, though usually there were only three of us competing in my division. I’m really curious to see how well I do in a broader field with judges who haven’t been watching me do forms a couple of times a week for the last year.
Other updates: I’m still going on my Presidential Challenge. Since 01 May, I’ve earned 7128 points, putting me a little over a third of the way to the 20,000 point goal. Also, I did receive my new belt rank last Saturday: yellow with green strips (7th Gup). Dynamo was with his dad last weekend, so he missed class; we’ll find out tomorrow if he passed or not. Taekwondo-wise, he’s been ready to move up for the last three-four months. It’s been behavior and grades that’ve held him back.

Congratulations on your new belt rank! I am about half way to the 20,000 point goal on the Presidential Challenge. I lost momentum a few weeks ago when I had a cold. I wonder what the next point level is?
Good luck in the tournament!
